The West African Institute of Applied Health Research (WAFERs) proudly participated in the Africa Primary Health Care Forum (APHCF) 2025, held from 14–15 July at Lake Greenfield Hotel, Abuja, Nigeria, under the theme “Reimagining Primary Health Care for Universal Health Coverage and Health Security in Africa.”

During the session, our Director, Dr. Opeyemi Babatunde, delivered a powerful presentation on “Trustworthy Evidence for Clinical Practice: The Value of Guidelines in 21st Century Nigeria,” highlighting the critical role of evidence-based, context-sensitive clinical guidelines in shaping quality care and strengthening health systems.

In addition, our abstract, “Co-Creating Solutions for Wellbeing and Retention,” was also presented underscoring WAFERs’ commitment to collaborative, innovative approaches that address the realities of African primary health care.

Why It Matters:
Our contributions at APHCF 2025 reaffirm WAFERs’ mission to bridge research and practice, foster
community participation, and co-create sustainable solutions that advance Universal Health Coverage
and health security in Africa.
